CANDESA trusts in TH Filtration Technology

Candesa Group, through the company Canteras de Santander S.A., has contracted TH to develop and implement a filtration system for washing concrete mixer water at their Herrera de Camargo plant (Cantabria). This new system will allow for more efficient treatment of dirty water from the concrete mixer washing process, enabling the recovery of fines for further treatment or recycling and the reuse of water in the process.

TH is responsible for the design, manufacture, and supply of an APNL10S filter press with polypropylene plates, six filtration chambers, and an APN-SIX-6 positive displacement slurry pump. Along with the filtration unit, an HPC-5.4/11 hydraulic power unit will also be provided for operating the pump and the opening and closing of the filter press. The proposed filter press stands out for its mechanical simplicity and robustness, designed specifically to facilitate equipment maintenance and allowing easy replacement of wear parts.

For pumping the dirty water, an APN SIX-6 slurry pump will be installed. This pump features a hydraulic drive based on load sensing technology, allowing the pump to self-regulate both flow and pressure during the different stages of the filtration process. Additionally, the SIX slurry pump has a reduced number of easily accessible moving parts, making maintenance easier compared to other pumps on the market.

Since its beginnings in 1961, Candesa Group has been one of the leading groups dedicated to open-pit non-metallic mining and its derivatives, with a strong presence in the northwestern quadrant of the Iberian Peninsula. The group is comprised of Canteras de Santander S.A., Áridos y Hormigones del Deva S.L., Hormigones del Sella S.L., and Logística y Bombeo de Hormigón S.L. They have nine active quarries and eight concrete and mortar production centers in Asturias, Cantabria, and Castilla León. They also participate in TCM and Axfal, companies dedicated to the production of dry mortars and asphalt mixtures, respectively.

TH has over 50 years of experience in mining solutions and has collaborated with some of the most important metallurgical and mining companies in the world, with their solutions and equipment successfully implemented on all five continents.
